Wilhelm Sigvard Dietrichson was born in Oslo on 30 July 1880. His mother was Maria Amalie Hjorth. He belongs to the branch descending from Johan Wilhelm Dietrichson and was a great-grandson of the paymaster David Dietrichson. Store norske leksikon writes his middle name as Hjort, while other sources have Hjorth.

He was a graduate in agriculture and became secretary of the Norwegian Farmers’ Association in 1910. The association later became the Norwegian Farmers’ Union, and Dietrichson was its general secretary for many years. The sources disagree on whether he began in 1918 or 1920, He was out of the post during the war and returned in 1945. One source says he was removed by the Germans and the Nazi party, another that he resigned himself when the Farmers’ Union was nazified in 1941. He was also for one term in the Storting for Akershus, around 1919 to 1921.

In 1918 he bought the farm Finstad in Kråkstad. There he founded Follo Agricultural School in 1922, first with premises in the center of Ski, and from 1925 in its own building at Finstad. He was principal from the start until his death. In 1946 he was made a knight first class of the Order of St. Olav. He died in Ski on 4 August 1949.

His father, spouse and children have not been found. The generations between David Dietrichson (1792–1862) and Wilhelm are found only on Wikipedia, and they are therefore marked with low confidence in the family overview.
